This is an exciting giveaway for a 7-day cruise. Unless you’re particularly cold-blooded or masochistic, I’m assuming you’ll choose to visit the Mexican Riviera in a temperate climate instead of leaving winter behind for a decidedly more frigid environment. In case you’ve never noticed, I’m no fan of cold weather. But alas, I’m not judging those of you who would prefer see the rugged, untouched beauty of Alaska and it’s prolific wildlife, I just think you’ve lost your mind. As the kids say, J/K!

Whichever destination you choose, you’ll no doubt appreciate cruising on a luxurious Norwegian Joy cruise ship. I’m not really the right person to ask on this subject however, as I’ve never personally been on a cruise. My lack of constitution while in motion is rather infamous in my family. I’ll spare you the specifics, but let’s just say my poor mother and father had to pull over more than once each time they would drag our family in a station wagon across the country to visit my grandparents. Even to this day, I can’t read, sleep, or even dig around under the seat for that pesky french fry I’ve dropped into the inhumanly tiny space between the seat and the center console in a car without feeling queasy. That’s right, I’m just a bundle of joy on a road trip.

I’m not sure if my proclivity to seasickness is at the heart of my reluctance to cruise, or if it’s related to some of my other issues like anxiety, stress related high-blood pressure, or aversion to crowds. It could even be effected by my incessant need to be in control, which also precludes me from air travel, whenever possible. There’s just something about riding in a vessel that can’t simply be stopped to let me off that aggravates my sensibilities. That’s right, I can’t fly, I can’t sail, and I invariably vomit when riding in a car. Again, I’m just a bundle of overflowing joy to travel with!

I am aware that there are drugs and devices to combat sea sickness, such as Dramamine, Phenergan and even Benadryl, but I’m not sure about the integrity of any vacation that requires me to take drugs or receive injections. I think my biggest fear is that the doping wouldn’t work, leaving me in sure terror of seven straight days of hugging a commode.
